BLOODY STOOLS

Bloody stools, which are also called hematochezia, are when red or maroon-colored blood comes out in the stool. It is a sign that can be caused by many different stomach problems.
Bloody stool causes include:
  1. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is chronic digestive tract inflammation. Crohn's and ulcerative colitis often cause bloody stools.
  2. Gastrointestinal infections: Bloody stools can result from bacterial or viral infections. Campylobacter, Salmonella, and Shigella are common infections.
  3. Diverticulitis: Diverticulitis inflamed or infected colon pouches. Diverticulitis causes bloody stools.
  4. Colorectal cancer: Colorectal cancer affects the colon or rectum. Colorectal cancer causes abdominal pain, weight loss, and bloody stools.
  5. Haemorrhoids: swollen rectum or anus veins can cause bleeding during bowel movements.
  6. Anal fissures: Small tears in the anus lining can cause bleeding during bowel movements.
  7. Polyps: Polyps in the colon or rectum can bleed and become cancerous..
Symptoms of bloody stools include:
  1. Abdominal pain or cramping
  2. Diarrhoea or constipation
  3. Fatigue
  4. Nausea or vomiting
  5. Weight loss
  6. Anaemia
